Ann Thomas
My life long fascination with nature started as a young child in my hometown of Dolgellau, drawing tadpoles and watching ants. As a Zoology student (B.Sc Hons 1974), I understood scientific principles but my artistic inclinations had to take second place. Two years of expert Printmaking tuition in the USA (1989) enabled me to acquire new skills. My sketches and studies of nature are the inspiration for limited edition prints, monotypes, watercolour and mixed media originals. I exhibit with the Meirionnydd Artists, NWSFA and have enjoyed overseas adventures especially to the Great Hungarian Plain and the Norwegian Arctic Archipelago of Vegaøyan. These adventures resulted in a solo exhibition at ‘Plasau' Bala and in 2018 a commission by a bespoke Norwegian World Heritage Centre to write, illustrate and publish my book “Vega, Wild Wonderful Plants”.
