Shirley Ann Bowman
BMus. MA. PGCE. SBA Distinction
I live in Penrhynside on the North Wales Coast, am married with one son and two Granddaughters. I have spent most of my working life teaching Music and Literacy, both privately and at a local independent school.
Upon retirement, I was keen to develop new creative skills. Having always had an interest in Natural History and Plants, botanical painting seemed the obvious choice and so it was with paint brush in hand I found my way to a local art class. Within a short time I undertook the Society of Botanical Artists Distance Diploma gaining a distinction, together with much valued experience.
I work in watercolour and graphite on paper and vellum. Being drawn to fine detail, I endeavour to represent my subjects accurately and realistically, often including enlarged dissections of the reproduction process.
When not painting, I can be found walking in my beloved Welsh mountains and The Fells of the Lake District or horse riding.
I have worked to commission and some of my work is in local private collections.
